I'm Curious
When faced with a barrage of "Why...?" and "How...?", my mother answered, "Let's go look it up." I became a librarian because I love learning new things, and I like helping people. I've worked in universities, on US naval bases, in Government consulting firms, and in the pharmaceutical industry. I ran my own consulting business for over 15 years. My motto? "Curious Librarians Need to Know".
I Read Romance... and a few other things
In college, my aunt sent me a copy of Kathleen Woodiwiss' THE FLAME AND THE FLOWER. I caught Romance fever and never looked back. My favorite diversion is a well-written book with a fine hero and a happy ending. Watch for The Keepers Shelf coming later this year to browse some of my favorite reads, both fiction and non-fiction.

About LaVerne St. George
About LaVerne St. George
I'm a Bit of a Nomad
I've moved a lot--not as much as a military family--but there was one time that I moved every 6 months for 2 years. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, then off to Delaware, Maryland, Tennessee, Kansas, and Michigan. I learned to travel light and to use the different cultures and landscapes in my writing. Now I live in North Carolina with my husband, and when I'm not writing or reading, I enjoy crocheting, baking, Scrabble(R), traveling, and jigsaw and crossword puzzles.
I'm a Dog and Turtle Person
There have been pets in my past, but I'm pet-less at the moment. To me, turtles are about the most wondrous creatures ever created, and I have been known to stop on the roadside to guide a wayward turtle off the pavement and into the grass. I am a dog person. Definitely.
I Love to Teach
I learned to write with the help of the Romance Writers of America and its local chapters. If you have dreams of becoming a romance writer, RWA can provide all sorts of craft classes, workshops, and mentoring, live as well as on-line. In the Fall, look for my School for Successful Slow Writers, an online classroom where writers of genre fiction can take some time to improve their craft and learn how to navigate the world of traditional publishing.
I'm Writing My Way Through Romance Land
Given that I write sweet romance novels as well as inspirational, Regencies, and paranormal, I first consider the story I want to tell and choose the best way to tell it. I like to keep a sense of the Divine Power in everything I write. My writing style has been described as "a whole lot of sweet with a dash of spice", and I always add a Content/Sensuality Rating to each of my book descriptions, so you'll know what to expect.
I'm a nomad librarian-teacher romance reader-writer dog and turtle person who's delighted that you're here. I'm on a journey of writing, enjoying all that romance offers, and letting my curiosity have free rein.
